South Häme employment area
Employment and economic development services were transferred to the municipalities on 1 January 2025. Previously, these services were provided by the state employment and economic development offices, or TE offices, which were closed down at the end of 2024. The municipalities of Hausjärvi, Janakkala and Loppi and the city of Riihimäki organize employment and economic development services together and form the South Häme employment area.
There are a total of 45 employment areas in Finland. In the area of the former Häme TE Office, namely Kanta- and Päijät-Häme, there are four different employment areas: South Häme employment area, or EHTA, TyöHäme, Päijät-Häme employment services and the Lahti employment area.
The new Integration Act came into force at the same time as the TE reform. It makes it the task of municipalities to promote both the employment of immigrants and other integration.
What services does the South Häme employment area offer?
The South Häme employment area offers employment services, business services and integration services. Our customers are job seekers, entrepreneurs and employers, as well as immigrants. Our goal is to get to know the job seekers and local entrepreneurs in our area. We strive to develop our services to suit their needs, which increases the vitality and competitiveness of our municipalities and region.

The South Häme employment area advises job seekers on their job search and provides them with information about open jobs. We also promote the employment of job seekers through, among other things, vocational guidance and career planning and skills assessments. We offer them coaching and training opportunities.

The South Häme employment area helps employers and companies, among other things, in recruiting employees and developing personnel skills. We support employers in change situations and offer them transition security services. We help new entrepreneurs start their businesses.

When you are looking for an employee, log in to Job Market Finland, which serves as a meeting place for people and jobs. Job Market Finland allows you to create, for example, a job advertisement. When you publish a job advertisement, Job Market Finland suggests the most suitable job applicants for you. Job Market Finland also allows you to interact with the employment area and fill out a business plan.

The South Häme employment area offers the residents and employers of Riihimäki, Janakkala, Loppi and Hausjärvi the international services that fall within the tasks of the employment authority. We offer both employment services and integration services to immigrants:
- An immigrant can register as a job seeker,
- we advise them on employment matters,
- we assess what services they need,
- we will prepare an individual integration plan for them,
- We will guide them to integration training and multilingual social orientation.
For employers, we offer, among other things, work community coaching and employer competence mapping.

Employment area services are basic municipal services
Employment, business and integration services are now part of the basic services of municipalities, in the same way as, for example, educational services or housing services. The South Häme employment area serves job seekers and employers in each municipality in its area: Riihimäki, Janakkala, Loppi and Hausjärvi. You can also call us or send us an email.
What is the difference between employment area and municipal services?
The South Häme employment area offers services that fall within the statutory duties of the employment authority. The city of Riihimäki and the municipalities of Janakkala, Loppi and Hausjärvi also continue to offer their own services that promote employment and integration, i.e. employment services and integration services. These municipal employment and integration services complement the services of the employment area and meet the needs of the residents of the municipality in question. The South Häme employment area and the municipalities therefore work closely together on employment and integration matters.
